Updates

As of 19th December 2025 at 3:20pm

  • Concrete is booked to site on Tuesday 23rd December. A concrete lorry will need access down Fore Street and Dunn Street and will block the road at 20 minutes per trip. There will be 4 pours – rather than us split the pour over multiple days – to help with the convenience of access and to reduce the impact on our neighbours. The timing has been requested to be between 11am and 4pm for access. If residents can park considerately to allow for the use of the lorry – these lorries are big (!) – this would speed things up.
  • Trenches and foundations are in place and await concrete arrival. Excavation works have finished and the majority of material is cleared from site. The car park is uneven so please watch your footing. The chippings will return once significant progress has been made.
  • Solar and electrical work has been completed. The scaffolding will be removed shortly.
  • Temporary heaters have been moved into the centre. Please read notices associated. Do not use oil boiler or heating switches - these have been disconnected.
  • The car park is unavailable until further notice due to block materials being delivered and increased site traffic. Please do not use the car park and be mindful of vehicle movements to and from the site.
  • Access to the main hall via the slipway and steps rather than across the car park.
  • Please follow all on-site signage and be aware of an increased amount of contractor and delivery vehicle activity.
  • We will continue to post updates here and as the project progresses.
  • Users of the Centre are encouraged to review the additional risk assessments in your booking form effective from Monday 17th November.

Boscastle Community Centre Extension Project

We’re pleased to share that the Boscastle Community Centre extension project will be starting on site very soon, following the award of £112,000 in grant funding and £12,000 funded by the Centre capital reserves.

This exciting project is supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund through Cornwall Council’s Community Levelling Up Programme, with additional support from the Cornwall Community Capacity Fund.

About the Project

The works will:

  • Create new storage at hall level to make the main hall safer and more flexible for community use.
  • Improve accessibility throughout the building, ensuring it remains inclusive for all.
  • Upgrade energy efficiency to make the Centre more sustainable for the future.

These improvements will help ensure the Centre continues to serve Boscastle for years to come as a welcoming, accessible, and environmentally responsible community hub.

What to Expect During the Works

Work is expected to begin mid-November 2025 and continue through to the end of the year (with completion by early January 2026, weather permitting).

Access and parking:

  • Car parking on site will be limited during the works.
  • Please observe any temporary parking restrictions or contractor access zones.
  • Follow site safety signage and only use designated entry points.

Noise and disruption:

  • Some short-term noise and disruption will occur while construction takes place.
  • We’ll do our best to minimise inconvenience and coordinate activities around regular bookings.

Hall and room availability:

  • The main hall will remain open for most of the construction period, but some dates may require restricted access or closure.
  • Regular user groups will be contacted directly about any booking changes or temporary arrangements.
